The Public Utility Department is part of the Municipality of Aalborg. We supply energy and water to most homes and workplaces in and around the urban area of Aalborg-Nørresundby, and we dispose of and process wastewater and waste throughout the entire municipality.
The Public Utility Department is organised as a group, consisting of six units:

• The Gas Utility Company
• The Electricity Utility Company
• The District Heating Utility Company
• The Water Utility Company
• The Sewage Utility Company
• The Refuse Collection Utility Company

There is also a collective administration, with a joint customer centre.

The Public Utility Department is an independent administration within the Municipality of Aalborg and also performs a number of public assignments. Political management rests with the council’s Public Utility Committee, headed by Alderman Tommy Eggers. Director Knud Sloth is the head of administration.

The Public Utility Department is implementing a major initiative via Energicenter Aalborg to persuade its customers to economise on energy and resources.
